X-term Workshop

Dates of Workshop: November 7th, 8th, 2025

Times: November 7th - 7-8:30 pm Eastern Standard Time and November 8th - 12-3pm Eastern Standard Time

We will hold two 90-minute sessions. First session will be introduction to x-terms with examples and planning documents, as well as former participants from past X-terms to share about their experiences. During the second session will hold a participant share out and workshopping of ideas to help develop a plan for your school!

X-Terms, or eXperiential terms, are experiential learning opportunities for students and staff who collaborate in planning and experience of two week periods two times a year to engage in work and study in areas of deep interest. In contrast to the formality of regular coursework, X-Terms create a Montessori atmosphere with multi-age groupings and all-day close collaboration between students and adults, including faculty, outside experts, and other adults.

X-terms are a great way for adolescents dive deep into their passions. Learn how to support your students as they develop ideas, find advisors, pitch their idea to the community, form groups, plan, contingency plan, fundraise, and execute. From nascent idea to a fully constructed course of study, this workshop will guide you and your students to an experience where the adolescents build something meaningful and memorable.
