Partner Description

Want to work with the Math Institute?

The Math Institute is focused on providing teachers the resources and support they need

to center the classroom on their students. Through physical and digital materials, as well as

in person and virtual workshops, the Math Institute collaborates with teachers where they

are to enhance and open up their classrooms for better student engagement. Our

methodology is rooted on the effective, scientifically proven Montessori Method developed

for children ages 0-12, but our work has been to extend the theory and practices to the

12-18 Mathematics environment.

The materials and resources we have developed are the solid foundation of hundreds of adolescent classrooms around the world and create a common basis for experimentation and personalization for a community’s time and place. As such, we desire to include a diverse range of voices and prepared environments to enhance the development of adolescents. We strive to bring together practitioners with a deep experience and success within the adolescent plane to share their knowledge with our global audience.

We are excited to find and spotlight diverse voices doing wonderful work in their environments. Please look below for information on how to apply to be a Math Institute partner.

Thank you for all you do and we look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,

The Math Institute Team

We would like to formally acknowledge that the next portion of this agreement was crafted using language from AMI/USA’s speaker agreement, whose careful work and thoughtful intent deeply resonate with our organization’s shared values. In recognizing the effort and intentionality behind these words, our team felt it important to preserve their original clarity and purpose. This decision reflects our commitment to maintaining integrity in our actions, and we are in full agreement with the principles they embody, as they align with our mission and shared values.

  • As an organization, we ask that you, through your presentation, uphold the values to embrace the diversity of all individuals; to respect attributes such as sex, gender identification, race, ethnicity, age, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, nationality, socioeconomic status, religion, physical ability, mental ability, and expression.

  • Consider your positionality in your world. Does it, or does not, allow access and use of power and privilege. Reflect on how your reality may affect your approach to your topic and the content of your presentation.

  • To frame your presentation within an equity/ABAR context, it would be very helpful for you to reflect upon your culture, individual social values, and heart-felt beliefs. Own your identities and personal experiences that have informed your perspective on the topic you are presenting

  • Plan to be intentionally inclusive. Inclusion requires active and ongoing efforts to promote a sense of belonging for every participant. Being mindful of this means alternating using your voice and making space for other voices when practical and possible

  • Participants represent national and international locations, please consider how your topic can be adapted to ensure all individuals have an opportunity to gain knowledge that can be easily applied.

  • Wherever possible, videos/clips should ideally have closed captions for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers, and translation.

Usage of AI Generation

Project 41, 12, Inc. recognizes the issues with how Artificial Intelligence Generative Models are trained. Namely, the models have been trained with no adherence to intellectual property rights and do not compensate those who have created the prose and images these models have been trained on. With this in mind, we expect all work to be originally created by the subcontractor. All images should be of real environments or attributable to a photographer.

Interested?

Next Steps to apply:

  • Resume with a cover letter description of how The Math Institute materials have changed your practice or your prepared environments. Please submit this as an email attachment in .pdf format.

  • Suggested additional submissions:

    • 5-10 minute video of a mock adolescent math presentation (algebra tiles, geometry). Please share this via YouTube or Google Drive link.

The Math Institute team is happy to dialogue about possible suggestions.

Compensation

Compensation can range between $50 - $1500 USD for workshops, workshop support, scope of work, duration, and attendance. Typical workshops range between 1 hour or a series (3 to 6 workshops).

We believe that traditional hiring practices have historically and systemically marginalized entire groups of people — including people of color, people from working-class backgrounds, women, and people in the LGBTQIA+ community to name a few. We believe that we are better as an organization when we work to deconstruct the barriers intrinsic in that system so that our team has authentic representation from diverse communities, backgrounds, and beliefs. Hence, we strongly encourage people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities to apply for roles within our team.
