Online Geometry Workshop: Congruency

Schedule: 6-sessions, Meeting Monday and Wednesday on Zoom for 3 weeks for one-hour live sessions with Michael Waski.

Course content:

We will explore congruency from two different aspects. The first will be through hands-on work through which students can explore and discover the congruency theorems. We will then apply those theorems to proof writing in a natural way. Secondly, we will look at this work from a more classical approach by examining Euclid’s Elements and comparing what is done there to the other work with congruency. This should help the participants to be able to present the concept of congruency to all students at any age, while still laying the groundwork for the beginnings of deductive reasoning. It can also serve as a springboard for moral formal work, if one wishes to go that route with some or all students.
